Design
In my experience, this model has the same design as Optoma Eh412st, but it is nothing fancy. it has a standard look.
But Optoma has used premium plastic, which can be felt as soon as the model is out of the box.
Picture Quality
Now, let’s shed some light on picture quality. This projector has a native 720p resolution with an enhanced version of 1080p.
If you project 1080p video, you will not have true image quality compared to other native HD projectors on the market.
But still, you will see clear and crisp video quality even in a darker environment due to the higher contrast ratio of 25,000:1.
When tested in ambient conditions, the gt780 produced a clear image due to the powerful 3,800-lumen ANSI lamp.
Also, it comes with a 3d ready feature that will play all your latest 3d movies with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The lamp of the Optoma GT780 will last for 15,000 years when running in an eco mode, reducing the brightness of the model by at least 50%.
But if you run in full brightness, the lamp will last only for 8,000 hours with a life of 5 to 6 years, depending on your usage.
Connectivity
There are multiple ports at the back of GT780, such as 1 x HDMI, USB, VGA, 3.5mm audio jack, and RCA composite output, which work with older devices.
These devices are your camcorder, older Nintendo, WII console, etc.
Remember, there is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, and you will get a single HDMI to connect third-party streaming devices to view your favourite content on the screen.
You can also connect an external speaker with the help of a 3.5mm or USB port system. The 10w speaker is not loud enough to experience an authentic cinematic experience while watching a movie.
Portability
For testing, I bought this model from my uncle, it was easy to lift and bring to our testing place without the feel of bulkiness in my projector bag.
So, if you want a device that can be quickly taken from one place to another, like in school, business meetings, or church, then GT780 might be the right option.
Setup
Everyone wants to set up their projector as quickly as possible to view their favourite movie or play games without wasting time.
The same goes with the Optoma GT780, which lets you set up this device on a flat table, surface, or mounted on the ceiling at the back or front of the screen.
Its lens produces an image 100″ inches from 3 feet away due to the short-throw projection ratio.
After setting up this unit, I was highly disappointed with the zoom, which can only be adjusted manually to 0.8 – 2.0x.
To align the image, only a vertical +/-40% keystone correction lens system lets you project videos from a flat area.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
- It comes with a native resolution of 720p.
- Supports 3d and 1080p content.
- There are multiple connectivity options at the back of the device.
- The front lens comes with a cap to eliminate dust going inside.
Disadvantages
- There is no wifi or Bluetooth connectivity option.
- You will get a low video native resolution of 720p.
Final Words
The Optoma GT780 review projector is an ideal device that is budget-friendly and comes with lots of connectivity and an easy setup feature.
It projects Full HD videos and can cast 3d content on the screen. This projector is compact and can be used in classrooms, business meetings, or even in a dorm room, requiring more brightness on the screen.
With flicker-free pictures and a 120hz refresh rate, we hope this projector will match your daily needs of viewing anything on a bigger screen.
